From CAPESA to CEASA: the pioneerism of SUDENE in the food supply area View

This article deals with the pioneering role of SUDENE in the creation of the first food supply center in Brazil, Central de Abastecimento de Pernambuco S/A (CAPESA), now CEASA-PE, opened in Recife in 1968. The text has a historical approach, based on the collection of the Deliberative Council of SUDENE, of the enterprise from its planning, with the arrival of a team of French technicians invited by the then superintendent of SUDENE, Celso Furtado, which created the document "Contributions to the Study of Food Supply Infrastructure in the Brazilian Northeast" until today.
